The settlement, with the typical characteristics of a forest heath town, was once above the Roschertal, where the wooden church was also located. The charm of this landscape and the vital elixir of water, which springs out of numerous sources to the left and right of the Mandau, were likely the reason for the further settlement of this area of Saxony. The soil promised rich yields from farming and livestock. Today, Hainewalde is still mainly known for its agriculture. Business and trades have established themselves according to the conditions of the market. Since reunification, numerous associations have developed to actively use the chances of today and discover the paths of tomorrow.
