Travellers on their way along the Oberlausitzer Bergweg hiking trail will eventually encounter the Karasekhöhle caves. This acted as a hideout for the robber baron Karasek and his band at the end of the 18th century. Other favourite excursions are the three Spitzberge (Varnsdorfer, Spitzkunnersdorfer, and Oderwitzer Spitzberg), which surround Leutersdorf and which allow a view of the grandiose mountain landscape from their summits. Ski jumping in the area of Spitzkunnersdorf at the Forstenschanze ski jumping centre is an exciting experience in either summer or winter.
